How to export your data from TickTick

TickTick lets you generate a one-click backup of your account data (tasks, lists, tags) from the web app via Settings > Account > Backup & Import > Generate Backup, and separately export note summaries as text or image. There is no separate CSV/JSON export picker in the docs โ€” it's a single downloadable backup file, and the feature is only available from the web version, not mobile apps.

Formats: CSV (account backup file), Text/Image (note summaries only)Plan: Any plan (Free or Premium) โ€” must be done from the web app, not mobileRole: Account owner (TickTick is a personal account; there is no workspace/admin export concept)

Step by step

  1. 1Sign in to TickTick on the web app at www.ticktick.com (backup is only available from the web version).
  2. 2Click your Avatar icon in the top-left corner.
  3. 3Click "Settings".
  4. 4Go to "Account" and open "Backup & Import" (also shown as "Backup & Restore" in some menus).
  5. 5Click "Generate Backup" to download your data backup file to your computer.
  6. 6To move data into another TickTick account, sign into that account, open the same "Backup & Import" screen, and click "Import Backup" to upload the file โ€” this merges data rather than overwriting.
  7. 7For note content specifically, open the note, click "..." in the top right, and select "Share" to export the note/summary as text or image (notes are not part of the account backup).

What the export includes

  • โœ“Core account data covered by "Generate Backup" โ€” tasks, lists, and tags
  • โœ“Can be re-imported into another TickTick account to merge data
  • โœ“Note summaries can be separately exported as text or image via the note's Share option

What it doesn't include

  • โœ—Focus/Pomodoro statistics (handled in a separate Focus Statistics area, not mentioned as part of the account backup)
  • โœ—Notes and note summaries (require a separate manual export per note via "..." > Share, not included in the account backup)
  • โœ—Third-party integration configs (e.g. Spark, Telegram, Apple Health) โ€” these are separate features, not exportable via backup
  • โœ—Any data created only on mobile but not synced, since backup must be run from the web version

Before you start

  • โš Backup/export can only be done from the web app (www.ticktick.com), not from the mobile or desktop apps, per TickTick's own FAQ
  • โš Importing a backup into a different account merges the data into that account rather than replacing it โ€” useful for consolidating two accounts, but not a clean 'move'
  • โš TickTick documents importing INTO TickTick from Todoist, Microsoft To Do, Any.do, Wunderlist, OmniFocus, Toodledo, and iCal โ€” but there's no documented reverse export flow built for leaving to those apps
  • โš A public OpenAPI (developer.ticktick.com) exists if you need programmatic access to tasks beyond the one-click backup file

Where to take your data

TickTick's backup isn't a Todoist-native file, so you'll need to open the backup data and map it to Todoist's CSV import template, or recreate lists/tasks manually in Todoist.

Microsoft To Do

No direct file import is offered by Microsoft To Do; use the TickTick backup as a reference and recreate lists and tasks manually, or use a third-party sync tool.

Google Tasks

Google Tasks has no bulk file import; use the TickTick backup data as a checklist to manually re-add tasks and lists.

Exporting from TickTick: common questions

Does TickTick export my data as CSV or JSON?+

TickTick's own docs just call it a 'backup' generated via Settings > Account > Backup & Import > Generate Backup. There's no format picker shown in the help docs โ€” it produces a single downloadable backup file of your account data.

Can I back up or export TickTick from my phone?+

No. TickTick's FAQ says to log in to the web version to back up your data โ€” the backup/import feature is web-only.

Will importing my TickTick backup overwrite data in another account?+

No. According to TickTick's FAQ, importing a backup merges the data into the target account rather than replacing it, which is how they describe consolidating two accounts.

Are my notes included in the TickTick backup?+

Notes and note summaries are exported separately โ€” open the note, tap the '...' menu, and choose 'Share' to export as text or image. This is a different flow than the account backup.

Is there an API alternative to the manual backup?+

Yes. TickTick's help docs point to a public OpenAPI at developer.ticktick.com for programmatic access if the one-click backup file isn't enough.

Can my whole team export TickTick data at once?+

TickTick's documented export is per individual account (Generate Backup); there's no documented workspace-wide or admin-level bulk export, so each team member would need to back up their own account separately.
