How to export your data from ClickUp

ClickUp lets Workspace Owners and Admins export task data (Spaces, Folders, Subfolders, or Lists) to CSV via the Workspace export settings, and lets users with Edit access export individual List/Table views, Docs, Dashboard cards, Whiteboards, and Form responses in formats like CSV, PDF, HTML, Markdown, PNG, JPEG, SVG, or WEBP.

Formats: CSV, PDF, HTML, Markdown, PNG, JPEG, SVG, WEBPPlan: Any plan can export task data and views, but Free Forever and Unlimited plans are limited to exporting only 5 List, Table, or Form views total; Dashboard card export requires Business Plan and aboveRole: Workspace Owner or Admin for full task-data export via Workspace export settings; Members can export views/Docs/Dashboards/Whiteboards/Forms only if they have Edit or higher permission to that location (and the relevant permission is enabled on Business Plus/Enterprise)

Step by step

  1. 1Click your Workspace avatar in the upper-left corner and select Settings.
  2. 2In the All settings sidebar, select Imports / Exports.
  3. 3Click Export Items.
  4. 4On the Export page, click the Select locations dropdown and choose the Spaces, Folders, Subfolders, or Lists to export.
  5. 5Click Start Export.
  6. 6When the export finishes processing, click Download Export and save the CSV file (a download link is also emailed to you).
  7. 7For Docs, open the Doc and use its export option to save as PDF, HTML, or Markdown (bulk Doc export is not available).
  8. 8For Dashboards, Whiteboards, List/Table views, or Form responses, use each item's own export option (Business Plan+ required for Dashboard cards).

What the export includes

  • Task ID, Task Link, Task Type, Task Custom ID, Task Name, Task Description
  • Status, dates created/due/start (Unix and plain text)
  • Parent ID and Subtask IDs
  • Attachment names and hyperlinks (not the files themselves)
  • Assignees, Tags, Priority
  • List Name, Folder Name/Path, Space Name
  • Time Estimated and Time Spent (plus Rolled Up Time)
  • Checklists and Comments (including assigned comment counts)

What it doesn't include

  • Bulk export of all Docs in a Workspace is not available (Docs must be exported one at a time)
  • Actual attachment files are not embedded in the CSV — only file names and hyperlinks (download attachments separately as a zip)
  • View-only guests, permission-controlled guests, and limited members can never export views or task data, regardless of plan
  • Free Forever and Unlimited plans can only export 5 List, Table, or Form views total

Before you start

  • Exporting only the Spaces/Folders/Lists you actually need increases the chance the export succeeds
  • You get both an in-app Download Export link and an emailed link to the CSV file
  • Feature availability and export limits vary by plan and user role
  • The Exporting (task data) permission and the separate Export Views permission are both configurable per role on Business Plus and Enterprise plans
  • Data can also be pulled programmatically via the ClickUp API, which has a standard rate limit of 100 requests/minute/token

ClickUp Free

Stay in ClickUp on the Free Forever plan and re-import the CSV via the same Workspace's Import page, or move Spaces/Lists into a new Free Workspace using ClickUp's built-in importer.

Notion can import CSV files directly (each CSV becomes a database), so you can upload the exported task-data CSV as a new database and remap fields like Status, Assignees, and Tags.

Linear supports CSV import for issues; map ClickUp's Task Name, Status, Assignees, and Description columns to Linear's issue fields during import.

Exporting from ClickUp: common questions

Can I export my entire ClickUp Workspace in one click?+

Not as a single bundle. Task data exports to CSV from selected Spaces/Folders/Lists, while Docs, Dashboards, Whiteboards, and Form responses each have their own separate export flow, and bulk Doc export isn't available yet.

Do I need a paid plan to export my data from ClickUp?+

No, task data export and view export work on the Free Forever plan, but Free Forever and Unlimited plans are capped at exporting 5 List, Table, or Form views total, and Dashboard card export requires Business Plan or above.

Who can export data in a ClickUp Workspace?+

By default, only Owners and Admins can export task data via the Workspace export settings; regular Members can only export views, Docs, Dashboards, Whiteboards, or Forms if they have Edit or higher access to that location, and on Business Plus/Enterprise these permissions can be individually enabled or disabled per role.

Does the CSV export include file attachments?+

No, the CSV only includes attachment names and hyperlinks to the files, not the files themselves. Download the actual files separately as a zip from each task's attachments.

Can I export ClickUp data using the API instead of the UI?+

Yes, ClickUp's API can be used to pull Workspace data programmatically, subject to a standard rate limit of 100 requests per minute per token.

What format are dates in the exported CSV?+

Dates and time fields are exported in both Unix timestamp format and plain text, so you may need a converter to read the Unix values as normal dates.
