How to export your data from Zapier

Zapier lets you export your Zap workflows as JSON, your Zap run history as CSV or JSON, and Tables data as CSV, plus a full account-data ZIP (Zapfile.json, run-history links, Tables, Agents, Chatbots, MCP data) via Settings > Security and data > Data management.

Step by step

1Log in at zapier.com, click your avatar, and open Settings.
2In the left sidebar under My account, select Security and data.
3In the Data management section, click the download icon next to 'Download my Zaps' to export your own Zap workflows as a JSON file (or 'Download private and shared Zaps' if you're the account Owner/Super Admin on a Team or Enterprise account, to get everyone's Zaps).
4To back up run data, go to Zap History, optionally filter by Zap workflow, then choose the CSV or JSON export option and click Download (or have it emailed to you).
5To export Tables, open Zapier Tables, click into the table, click the menu icon in the bottom toolbar, and select Download to get a CSV.
6For a full account backup, go back to Settings > Security and data > Data management and use the account data export option there.
7Watch your inbox for the email titled 'Your Zapier account data is ready to download' and click 'Download your account data'.
8Unzip the file: Zapfile.json holds your Zap workflow definitions, and the task_history_download_urls CSV(s) contain links to your run-history data.

What the export includes

✓Zap workflow configuration as JSON, including step order, app connections, and the input/output values used by each step
✓Zap run history (individual run inputs/outputs) exportable as CSV or JSON
✓Tables data as CSV, limited to currently displayed records and fields
✓In the full account export: task-history download links, Tables, AI Agents, Chatbots (configs, sessions, messages), and MCP server data as separate JSON/CSV files
✓Team/Enterprise: a CSV of task usage per team member

What it doesn't include

✗Hidden fields or filtered-out records in the Tables CSV download
✗Zap run data older than what's retained (Zapier only guarantees up to 60 days / 10,000 displayed runs), so unexported older history may be gone
✗Other users' private Zaps if you're not the account Owner or Super Admin
✗Any format other than JSON for Zap workflow import/export (no CSV option for workflows themselves)

Before you start

⚠Full-account and 'all users' Zap workflow exports arrive by email as a downloadable link, not as an instant in-browser file
⚠Exporting everyone's private and shared Zaps is restricted to the account Owner or Super Admin on a Team or Enterprise account
⚠The per-member task-usage CSV is only available on Team or Enterprise accounts
⚠Zap history is only guaranteed for 60 days and capped at 10,000 displayed runs, so export regularly if you need long-term records
⚠The Zap workflow JSON is Zapier's internal format meant for re-importing into Zapier, not a universal workflow-interchange format

Alternatives Zapier vs n8n

No direct import of Zapier's Zap JSON exists; use the exported workflow JSON as documentation of your triggers/actions and recreate the equivalent nodes in n8n's workflow editor.

Pipedream

Same limitation applies: manually recreate each Zap's steps as a Pipedream workflow using the exported JSON as a reference for app connections and data mappings.

Import your Tables CSV export directly into Google Sheets, then use Sync2Sheets to keep that sheet synced going forward instead of Zapier Tables.

Exporting from Zapier: common questions

Can I export just one Zap instead of my whole account?+

The Data management export downloads all of your own Zap workflows at once as a single JSON file; it's not a per-Zap download option.

What file format do I get when exporting Zaps?+

JSON only. Zapier's import and export feature supports the JSON format exclusively, not CSV.

Can I recover Zap run history from months ago if I never exported it?+

Not reliably. Zapier only guarantees up to 60 days of Zap run data and displays a maximum of 10,000 runs in the Zap History page.

Do I need a paid Zapier plan to export my data?+

No. Exporting your own Zap workflows and Tables data is available on the Free plan. Exporting all users' Zaps or the task-usage report requires a Team or Enterprise account plus Owner/Super Admin access.

Can I re-import an exported Zap JSON file back into Zapier?+

Yes, the same JSON export format is used for both importing and exporting Zap workflows within Zapier, but it's not designed to be imported into other automation tools.

How do I get a complete backup, not just my Zaps?+

Use the account data export under Settings > Security and data > Data management, which emails a ZIP containing your Zapfile.json, run-history links, Tables data, and Agents/Chatbots/MCP data.
