How to export your data from Loom
Loom has no single 'export all my data' button: videos must be downloaded one by one as MP4 files from your Library, while workspace-level analytics and audit history are pulled separately as CSV files from the Workspace settings Data tab.
✓ Verified against Loom's official documentation, September 2026
Step by step
- 1Sign in to Loom and open your Library at loom.com/my-videos.
- 2For each video you want to keep, click the '...' menu above the video thumbnail and select 'Download' — this saves the video as a single .MP4 file in its original resolution and aspect ratio.
- 3Repeat per video: Loom does not offer a workspace-wide bulk video download, so large libraries need to be downloaded one at a time (or in small batches you manage manually).
- 4If a video is over 20GB (roughly 3 hours at 4K), it cannot be downloaded from the UI — contact Loom support to request the file.
- 5To pull usage/analytics data instead of raw video, go to Workspace settings > Data tab (loom.com/settings/workspace#data) and export your Engagement Insights report as a CSV.
- 6To pull an audit trail of workspace activity (logins, video deletions, other workspace actions dating back to August 2021), go to the same Data tab, choose a date range, and select 'Export CSV' for the activity log.
- 7If teammates need to grab their own video copies before you migrate, open each video's Edit tab > Settings > Audience tab and toggle on 'Downloads' so signed-in viewers can download it themselves.
What the export includes
- ✓Individual video files in .MP4 format, original aspect ratio, with audio
- ✓Engagement Insights CSV: views, watch time, comments, reactions, downloads, call-to-action clicks, broken down by video/teammate/team
- ✓Workspace activity log CSV: logins, video deletions, and other workspace actions with timestamps
What it doesn't include
- ✗No single bulk/zip export of an entire workspace's videos — each video is downloaded individually
- ✗Videos over 20GB (~3 hours at 4K) can't be downloaded from the UI without contacting support
- ✗Starter Free plan users cannot download any videos
- ✗On Business/Business+ AI plans, an Admin's workspace-wide Engagement Insights export omits titles/links of videos that weren't shared into a Space (only Enterprise admins get full visibility of all members' content)
- ✗Deleted videos are excluded from Engagement Insights counts
- ✗Activity logs aren't available on non-Atlassian-managed Business/Business+ AI workspaces, only Enterprise or Atlassian-managed workspaces
Before you start
- ⚠There is no native 'export my workspace' button — video export, analytics export, and activity-log export are three separate flows
- ⚠20GB is the hard per-video download limit in the UI
- ⚠Engagement Insights and activity logs are Admin-only exports, done from the same Workspace settings > Data tab
- ⚠Business/Business+ AI Engagement Insights exports have visibility gaps for videos not shared into a Space — get teammates to move content into Spaces before exporting for a complete picture
- ⚠Viewers can only download a video if the creator/admin explicitly enables Downloads in that video's Audience settings, and never on the Starter Free plan
Where to take your data
Free and cheaper tools that can take a Loom export. See all Loom alternatives →
Screen Studio
Screen Studio is a recorder/editor, not a hosting migration target — drag the downloaded .mp4 files into its editor to re-cut, add zoom/camera effects, and re-export them for future sharing.
CleanShot X
CleanShot X doesn't import a 'workspace,' but you can move your downloaded .mp4 files into its local Recordings library so past Looms live alongside new captures made with CleanShot going forward.
OBS Studio
OBS is a recorder, not an archive tool — keep the downloaded .mp4 files in your own file storage, and switch future screen recordings to OBS's local capture instead of Loom.
Exporting from Loom: common questions
Can I export my entire Loom library in one click?+
No. Loom has no bulk workspace video export — you download each video individually from your Library via the '...' menu, then Download.
What file format do downloaded Loom videos use?+
MP4, in the video's original recorded aspect ratio (not the 16:9 web player view).
Is there a size limit on video downloads?+
Yes, 20GB per video (about 3 hours of 4K footage). Larger files require contacting Loom support directly.
Can I export view/engagement data before I leave?+
Yes. Admins on Business, Business+ AI, or Enterprise can export an Engagement Insights CSV report from the Data tab in Workspace settings.
Can I get a record of workspace activity for compliance before switching tools?+
Yes, if you're on Enterprise or an Atlassian-managed Business/Business+ AI workspace — export a CSV activity log (logins, deletions, etc.) from the same Data tab, filtered by date range.
Do I need to be a workspace Admin to download videos?+
No for the videos themselves — Admins and Creators can download on Business/Business+ AI (Members too on Enterprise), but Engagement Insights and activity log exports are Admin-only.
