How to export your data from Copper
Copper lets workspace admins export People, Companies, Opportunities, Projects, Tasks, and Leads as full or filtered lists to an Excel (.xlsx) file, delivered via an emailed download link. Activity/history exports are not self-serve and require contacting Copper Support.

Step by step
- 1Sign into Copper and click Profile (upper left), then select the 'Workspace Settings' icon from the left-hand menu
- 2Choose 'Export Data' from the 'Manage Your Data' section
- 3Pick a record type — People, Companies, Opportunities, Projects, Tasks, or Leads
- 4Click the blue 'Export [record type]' button under that record type
- 5Wait for the emailed link, then use it to download the .xlsx file
- 6To export a filtered list instead: open the list view for leads, people, companies, opportunities, or projects, select records (or use Custom Filters), click 'Export List' in the three-dot menu, confirm selected/all/filtered records, and click Export
- 7You'll get an in-app confirmation and an email containing an Excel file of the exported data
- 8For activity/history data, contact Copper Support directly for a one-time activity export
What the export includes
- ✓People records
- ✓Company records
- ✓Opportunity records
- ✓Project records
- ✓Task records
- ✓Lead records
- ✓Full lists or filtered/selected lists of the above
What it doesn't include
- ✗Activities/activity feed — not available as a self-serve export; requires a one-time export request to Copper Support
Before you start
- ⚠File size limit per export is 100GB
- ⚠Exports are delivered as a download link by email, not an instant in-browser download
- ⚠Exporting filtered lists requires a special permission enabled by an admin — users without it must ask their admin
- ⚠Admins can grant export rights to other users via the 'Data Export' checkbox when inviting or editing a user under Workspace Settings > Company & Invite New Users
- ⚠No built-in JSON or CSV output confirmed in the docs — exports come back as Excel (.xlsx) files

Exporting from Copper: common questions
Can anyone export data from Copper, or only admins?+
By default only admins can export all data from Copper. Admins can extend this to other users by checking the 'Data Export' box on a user's profile under Workspace Settings.
What file format does Copper export to?+
Copper's exports come back as an Excel (.xlsx) file sent via a download link in an email, for both full-list and filtered-list exports.
Is there a limit on how much data I can export at once?+
Yes — Copper's per-export file size limit is 100GB.
Can I export only part of my data instead of everything?+
Yes. From any list view (leads, people, companies, opportunities, or projects) you can select specific records or use Custom Filters, then use 'Export List' from the three-dot menu to export only those filtered or selected records.
Can I export activity history / timeline data from Copper?+
Not through the self-serve export tool. Copper's docs state that activity exports require contacting Copper Support for a one-time export.
How long does a Copper export take to arrive?+
Copper doesn't publish a fixed processing time in its docs — after clicking Export you get an on-screen confirmation, and the download link arrives by email.
