How to export your data from Snyk

Snyk doesn't offer a single 'export all data' button. You can download CSV files of any table/report you can view in the Snyk Web UI, or use the Export API to pull larger issues, usage, PR check, and prevention-event datasets (also delivered as CSV) for an Organization or Group.

Formats: CSVPlan: Any plan — export access is tied to table/feature visibility, not a specific plan tierRole: Any user with view access to the table/report (for UI export); a Snyk API Token (user or service account) for the Export API

✓ Verified against Snyk's official documentation, October 2026

Step by step

  1. 1For a single table or report: navigate to the page in the Snyk Web UI that contains the data you want (e.g. an Issues or Projects table).
  2. 2Click 'Download CSV' above the table.
  3. 3Select the fields/columns you want included in the export.
  4. 4Choose a delivery method: 'Wait for generation' to download the file directly once it's ready, or 'Receive by email' to get the CSV emailed to you.
  5. 5For bulk/programmatic export: call the Export API — POST to the Organization or Group export endpoint with the API version header, your API token, the 'dataset' parameter (issues, usage, pr_checks, pr_checks_project_adoption, pr_checks_integration_adoption, or prevention_events), and at least one required date filter.
  6. 6Poll the export status endpoint using the returned export_id until the status is FINISHED (statuses: PENDING, STARTED, FINISHED, ERROR).
  7. 7Fetch the completed file(s) from the export results endpoint. Download promptly — the self-signed file link defaults to a 60-minute expiry (configurable up to 3600 seconds).

What the export includes

  • ✓Any table or report data visible to you in the Snyk Web UI, with your applied filters and selected columns
  • ✓Issues dataset via Export API: vulnerability/issue details, severity scores (CVSS, EPSS), project/asset metadata, fix status, Jira links, and more
  • ✓Usage events, PR checks, PR checks project/integration adoption, and prevention events datasets via the Export API

What it doesn't include

  • ✗No single bundled 'full account export' — only the specific datasets supported by the Export API (issues, usage, pr_checks, pr_checks_project_adoption, pr_checks_integration_adoption, prevention_events) or whatever table you manually export
  • ✗Org/Group settings, integration configurations, policies, and ignore rules are not covered by these export mechanisms per Snyk's documentation
  • ✗PDF export is mentioned elsewhere on Snyk's reporting pages, but data format for the mechanisms documented here is CSV only

Before you start

  • ⚠Export API requests must include at least one date filter (e.g. 'introduced' or 'updated' for issues, 'event' or 'updated' for prevention_events)
  • ⚠Export API POST endpoint is rate-limited to 20 export requests per hour; status/result retrieval is unlimited
  • ⚠Export API data refreshes roughly every 2 hours, so Snyk recommends not scheduling exports more often than that
  • ⚠Exported CSV files from the Export API are retained for 3 days, but the signed download link defaults to expiring after 60 minutes
  • ⚠Export API files are stored in AWS S3 or Google Cloud Storage depending on where your Snyk instance is hosted
  • ⚠If no specific columns are requested via the Export API, all available columns are returned by default

Where to take your data

Free and cheaper tools that can take a Snyk export. See all Snyk alternatives →

Trivy

Trivy doesn't import Snyk CSVs directly; use your exported issues dataset as a historical/audit baseline while Trivy re-scans your repos and containers to rebuild current vulnerability findings.

Grype

Same as Trivy — Grype generates fresh scan results rather than importing legacy data; keep the Snyk CSV export as your pre-migration vulnerability record for comparison and compliance history.

OWASP Dependency-Check

Use the exported Snyk issues CSV to cross-check known vulnerabilities and confirm parity once Dependency-Check scans the same projects, since there's no direct import path between the two tools.

Exporting from Snyk: common questions

Can I export all my Snyk data at once?+

No. There's no single 'export everything' action. You export data table-by-table/report-by-report via Download CSV, or dataset-by-dataset (issues, usage, pr_checks, prevention_events) via the Export API.

Do I need a paid Snyk plan to export data?+

No plan restriction is documented — if you have permission to view a table, you have permission to export its data via CSV.

What file format does Snyk export data in?+

CSV, both for the Download CSV feature in the Web UI and for datasets pulled through the Export API.

How long do I have to download an export before it expires?+

Export API files remain available for 3 days, but the signed download link defaults to expiring after 60 minutes (you can configure it up to 3600 seconds).

Can I automate Snyk data exports?+

Yes — use the Export API: initiate an export, poll its status until FINISHED, then fetch the results programmatically.

Is there a limit on how many exports I can request?+

Yes — the Export API's POST endpoint allows up to 20 export requests per hour; checking status or fetching results is unlimited.
