How to export your data from OneTrust
OneTrust lets you export consent/cookie data as a spreadsheet from the Consent Module's Export Dashboard, filtered by Source, Template, and Time Range, and lets you export Reports (Data Mapping, Assessments, Tasks, Activities) as PDF or column reports, which can also be scheduled and delivered to an SFTP server.
✓ Verified against OneTrust's official documentation, October 2026
Step by step
- 1Log in to your OneTrust tenant (my.onetrust.com).
- 2For cookie/consent data: open the Consent Module and go to the Export Dashboard.
- 3Set the Source filter to the Collection Point(s) the consent data was sent from (Collection Points are configured in the Consent Module).
- 4Set the Template filter to the consent collection template(s) you want data for.
- 5Set the Time Range using the calendar filter to the period you want exported.
- 6Run the export to generate a spreadsheet containing the consent records for that filter set.
- 7For non-consent data (Data Mapping, Assessments, Tasks, Activities): open the Reports section, create or open a report, and use 'Exporting a Report' to generate it as a PDF or column report (bulk PDF export is also available).
- 8Optionally configure the report to be sent automatically on a schedule to an SFTP server instead of downloading manually each time.
What the export includes
- ✓Consent export: Browser used by the site visitor
- ✓Consent export: Country the visitor accessed the site from
- ✓Consent export: Device used to give consent
- ✓Consent export: Domain where consent was captured
- ✓Consent export: Policy (the Geolocation Rule Group the consent was provided under)
- ✓Consent export: Rule Name (the specific rule within that Geolocation Rule Group)
- ✓Consent export: Template used to display the consent options
- ✓Reports: Assessment Questions & Responses, Task, Activity, and Data Mapping Automation report data as PDF or column reports
What it doesn't include
- ✗Not specified in the public articles retrieved — OneTrust's help center did not detail items explicitly excluded from these exports
- ✗No information found on whether raw cookie-banner HTML/JS or full audit trails are included in the Consent export
Before you start
- ⚠The consent data export is filtered and scoped by Source, Template, and Time Range — you cannot pull a single unfiltered 'export everything' file from the Export Dashboard based on the documented interface
- ⚠Reports can be scheduled and delivered to an SFTP server rather than downloaded manually, which is useful if you need recurring exports during a migration
- ⚠Exact processing time, row limits, and retention of generated exports are not stated in the public help articles — confirm directly with OneTrust support or your account rep before relying on this for a full data migration
Where to take your data
Free and cheaper tools that can take a OneTrust export. See all OneTrust alternatives →
CookieYes
CookieYes does not import another vendor's historical consent logs directly. Use the OneTrust consent export as your compliance audit record, then manually rebuild your cookie categories and banner configuration in CookieYes and let it start a fresh consent log going forward.
Termly
Termly has no direct OneTrust import. Keep the OneTrust export (CSV) as your pre-migration consent audit trail, then recreate your cookie policy/banner setup in Termly and start new consent logging from go-live.
iubenda
iubenda does not support importing OneTrust consent records either. Archive the OneTrust spreadsheet export for compliance history, and configure iubenda's Cookie Solution from scratch; new consents are logged independently once live.
Exporting from OneTrust: common questions
Can I export my historical cookie consent data from OneTrust?+
Yes. OneTrust's Consent Module has an Export Dashboard that generates a spreadsheet of consent records, filtered by Source, Template, and Time Range.
What fields are in the OneTrust consent data export?+
Per OneTrust's documentation, the exported spreadsheet includes Browser, Country, Device, Domain, Policy, Rule Name, and Template for each consent record.
Can I import my OneTrust consent logs into CookieYes, Termly, or iubenda?+
No. None of these tools import another vendor's consent logs directly. Keep the OneTrust export as your compliance audit trail and start a new consent log in the new tool.
Does OneTrust export other data besides cookie consent, like assessments or data mapping?+
Yes. OneTrust's Reports feature covers Assessment Questions & Responses, Task, Activity, and Data Mapping Automation reports, which can be exported as PDF or column reports, including bulk PDF export and scheduled delivery to SFTP.
Do I need a specific OneTrust plan or admin role to export data?+
OneTrust's public help articles don't state a specific plan or role requirement for these exports — confirm with your OneTrust account team if you're on a restricted seat type.
Is there a limit on how far back I can export consent data?+
The Export Dashboard uses a Time Range filter to scope the export, but OneTrust's public documentation doesn't specify a maximum lookback period.
