How to export your data from Keap
Keap lets you export your contact list (including custom fields) as a CSV file from the Contacts > People list; exports of 1,000 contacts or fewer download immediately, while larger exports arrive as an emailed download link. Tags and notes are not included in the contact export and must be pulled separately via reports.

Step by step
- 1Log in to Keap and go to Contacts, then select People in the left navigation.
- 2Optional: create or filter a contact group first if you only want to export a subset of contacts.
- 3In the contact list, select the contacts you want to export, or check the Select All box at the top of the list to export everyone.
- 4Click Export at the bottom of the page.
- 5If you exported 1,000 contacts or fewer, the CSV file downloads immediately to your device.
- 6If you exported 1,001 or more contacts, Keap emails you a download link from noreply@keap.app; open that email and click the link within 24 hours before it expires.
- 7Locate the downloaded CSV file in your device's downloads folder.
- 8Optional: export notes separately via Reports > Task Note Report, and (on Pro/Max) run the Tag Tracker report to match tags to the exported contact IDs.
What the export includes
- ✓Standard contact fields (name, email, phone, address, etc.)
- ✓Custom contact fields
What it doesn't include
- ✗Tags (not included in the contact export file itself)
- ✗Notes (must be exported separately via the Task Note Report)
- ✗Campaign/automation builder configurations
- ✗E-commerce data such as orders, invoices, and products
- ✗Email/SMS templates and broadcast history
Before you start
- ⚠Exports of 1,001+ contacts are not instant — you must wait for an emailed download link.
- ⚠The emailed download link is only valid for 24 hours from when the export was requested.
- ⚠Tags are stripped out of the CSV; Pro/Max users need the separate Tag Tracker report to reconnect tags to contact IDs after the fact.
- ⚠If the export email never arrives, Keap's documentation directs you to contact their support team.
- ⚠Export emails come from noreply@keap.app — check spam/junk folders if you don't see it.
Where to take your data
Free and cheaper tools that can take a Keap export. See all Keap alternatives →
HubSpot Free
Use HubSpot's contact CSV import tool to map the Keap export's columns (name, email, phone, custom fields) to HubSpot contact properties; tags and notes will need to be re-added manually or via a separate mapped column.
MailerLite
Upload the Keap contacts CSV through MailerLite's subscriber import, mapping email and name fields to MailerLite subscriber fields; re-create any tag-based segments manually since tags aren't in the Keap export.
