How to export your data from Framer

Framer does not offer a single 'export all data' button or a downloadable static-HTML bundle of your site. CMS collection content can be exported per-collection as CSV or JSON using official Marketplace plugins, and individual design assets can be exported as PNG or JPG from the desktop app's Export panel.

Formats: CSV, JSON, PNG, JPGPlan: Not plan-gated in Framer's documentation; any Framer plan with CMS enabled can use CMS export plugins and asset export.Role: Not specified in Framer's docs — any project collaborator with edit access to the CMS and the canvas.

Step by step

  1. 1Open your Framer project and decide what you need: CMS collection content, individual design assets, or the published site itself — each is handled differently.
  2. 2To export CMS content, go to Plugins and install an official Marketplace plugin such as 'CMS Export' or 'JSON Import & Export'.
  3. 3Run the plugin, select the CMS collection you want to export, and generate a CSV or JSON file. Exports are per-collection, so repeat for each collection you need.
  4. 4To export visual assets, select the layer, frame, or page in the canvas, open the Export panel in the bottom-right, click the + icon, choose a size (1x, 2x, 3x, or 4x), optionally add a suffix, select PNG or JPG, and click Export.
  5. 5Do not expect a full static HTML/CSS/JS download of your live site: Framer's own help center states there is no HTML export for self-hosting because published pages depend on Framer's backend services (SSR, image optimization, font subsetting, global CDN).
  6. 6Rebuild your new site in the destination tool using the exported CSV/JSON as your content source and the exported PNG/JPG files as your image assets, then repoint your custom domain once the new site is live.

What the export includes

  • ✓CMS collection fields and text content, exported one collection at a time as CSV or JSON
  • ✓Individual images, icons, and pages exported as PNG or JPG at selectable resolutions (1x–4x)

What it doesn't include

  • ✗A downloadable static HTML/CSS/JS bundle of your published site for self-hosting — Framer's help center explicitly states this isn't offered
  • ✗Page layout, interactions, scroll effects, and animations — these are tied to Framer's canvas and backend rendering, not part of the CSV/JSON or asset exports
  • ✗Account, billing, or team/workspace membership data
  • ✗A single 'export everything' action — CMS export and asset export are separate, manual, per-item processes

Before you start

  • ⚠Framer's documentation is internally inconsistent on this topic: a general data-portability page states published sites can be downloaded as HTML/CSS/JS and moved to any host, while a dedicated FAQ states plainly that Framer does not offer HTML export for self-hosting.
  • ⚠CMS export plugins work one collection at a time — there's no bulk 'export all CMS data' button.
  • ⚠Framer frames its openness in terms of the EU Data Act, saying published output uses open web standards so data is 'never locked in' — but in practice the only concrete export mechanisms are CMS plugins and the per-asset Export panel.
  • ⚠Asset export (PNG/JPG) is done via the Framer desktop app's Export panel, not a bulk workspace-level download.

Framer Free

Start a new free Framer project, install the same CMS export/import plugin, and re-import your CSV/JSON into fresh collections; re-upload exported PNG/JPG assets manually.

Create matching CMS collections in Webflow and import your exported CSV as starting content, then re-upload the exported PNG/JPG images; page layout and interactions must be rebuilt manually since Framer doesn't export those.

Carrd has no CMS import, so for simple one-page sites, manually copy text content and re-upload the exported PNG/JPG assets into a new Carrd page.

Exporting from Framer: common questions

Can I export my whole Framer website as HTML and self-host it?+

No. Framer's help center states that Framer does not offer HTML export for self-hosting because published sites depend on backend services like SSR, image optimization, and font subsetting that are tied to Framer's hosting infrastructure.

How do I get my CMS content out of Framer?+

Install an official Marketplace plugin such as 'CMS Export' or 'JSON Import & Export', then run it on each CMS collection to generate a downloadable CSV or JSON file.

Is there a one-click 'download all my data' option in Framer?+

No. There's no single workspace-level export. You export CMS collections one at a time via a plugin, and design assets individually via the Export panel.

Will my page layouts, interactions, and animations transfer when I leave Framer?+

No. Only CMS text/data (CSV or JSON) and raw images/icons (PNG/JPG) are exportable. Layout, interactions, and animations are rebuilt on Framer's canvas and backend, and aren't part of any export.

Does exporting cost anything?+

Framer's own CMS export plugins listed on the Marketplace (CMS Export, JSON Import & Export) don't list a separate price, unlike some third-party site-cloning plugins that charge a subscription for full-page scraping.

Is Framer data export compliant with the EU Data Act?+

Framer says it meets EU Data Act portability requirements because its published output and CMS exports use open, standard formats (HTML/CSS/JS output, CSV/JSON for CMS data) that can be retrieved immediately without waiting periods.
