How to export your data from Dialpad

Dialpad lets you export analytics-style reports (call logs, text logs, voicemails, recordings, CSAT, agent status) as CSV files from the Admin Portal's Analytics tab, or pull the same data programmatically via Dialpad's API; exports are emailed as a download link rather than downloaded instantly in-browser.

Formats: CSV, JSON (via API)Plan: Available on all Dialpad plans, but Standard plan users get a limited set of export options; Text Logs, Voicemails, and Recordings exports are not enabled by default on any plan and must be turned on by Dialpad Customer CareRole: Admin (access to the Dialpad Admin Portal)

Step by step

  1. 1Log in to Dialpad and go to your Admin Portal
  2. 2Select Analytics
  3. 3Filter the data as desired (note: only the Users/Groups filter and the Date filter actually apply to the exported file)
  4. 4Select Export (.csv)
  5. 5Select the report you want: Daily/Group/User statistics, Call logs, Texts statistics, Text logs, Voicemails, Recordings, Agent status, CSAT responses, or Call disposition logs
  6. 6Select Send report — Dialpad emails you a link to download the CSV
  7. 7If Text Logs, Voicemails, or Recordings don't appear as options, contact Dialpad's Customer Care team to have them enabled first
  8. 8Optional: instead of Send report, select Schedule to have the same report emailed to you automatically on a daily, weekly, or monthly cadence

What the export includes

  • ✓Call logs: a record of every call plus call-specific metadata
  • ✓Text logs: a record of all text messages sent and received, including the actual message content (once enabled)
  • ✓Voicemails: a record of all voicemails with a link to the mp3 recording of each (once enabled)
  • ✓Recordings: a list of call recordings with links to the mp3 files, covering all recording types except admin call recordings (once enabled)
  • ✓Daily, Group, and User statistics summaries of call metrics
  • ✓Agent status statistics/logs, CSAT survey responses, and call disposition logs for Contact Centers

What it doesn't include

  • ✗Admin call recordings — these are only accessible through the Enterprise Support portal, not this export
  • ✗Actual audio files bundled in the CSV — recordings and voicemails exports only contain links to the mp3 files, not the files themselves
  • ✗Text Logs, Voicemails, and Recordings reports by default — each must be specifically enabled by Dialpad Customer Care before it appears as an export option
  • ✗Full export options on the Standard plan, which has a reduced set of available reports

Before you start

  • ⚠Exports aren't instant downloads — Dialpad emails you a link to the CSV file after you click Send report
  • ⚠Only the Users/Groups filter and Date filter are honored in the exported file; other filters you set in the UI won't carry over
  • ⚠Text Logs, Voicemails, and Recordings exports are disabled by default on every plan and require a request to Dialpad Customer Care to turn on
  • ⚠Agent status statistics and logs are per Contact Center only — there's no per-user or multi-Contact-Center export option for these
  • ⚠Standard plan accounts have a more limited set of export options than higher-tier plans
  • ⚠Data can also be pulled programmatically via Dialpad's Stats API if you need more automation than the UI export

Where to take your data

Free and cheaper tools that can take a Dialpad export. See all Dialpad alternatives →

Google Voice

Google Voice has no native Dialpad import tool. Use your exported Dialpad call/text logs and voicemail links as an archival record, then port your business number into Google Voice and manually recreate contacts and routing.

OpenPhone

There is no direct Dialpad-to-OpenPhone data import. Keep the exported CSVs (call logs, text logs, voicemail/recording links) for reference, and separately port your number and re-enter contacts/forwarding rules in OpenPhone.

Grasshopper

Grasshopper doesn't import Dialpad export files either. Treat the Dialpad CSV export as a historical record of calls/texts/voicemails, and set up your number and contacts fresh in Grasshopper after porting.

Exporting from Dialpad: common questions

Can I export my Dialpad data for free?+

Yes. Exporting analytics data (call logs, statistics, etc.) via the Admin Portal is available on all Dialpad plans, though Standard plan accounts have a smaller set of export options than higher tiers.

Does the export include the actual voicemail or call recording audio files?+

No. The Voicemails and Recordings CSV exports contain links to the mp3 files for each item, not the audio files themselves bundled into the export.

Why don't I see Text Logs, Voicemails, or Recordings as export options?+

Those three reports are not enabled by default on any plan. You need to contact Dialpad's Customer Care team to have them turned on for your account before they appear in the export list.

Can I get my Dialpad data without using the Admin Portal UI?+

Yes, Dialpad's API (including a dedicated Stats API) lets you pull the same analytics and performance data programmatically for use in a BI tool or migration script.

Can I export admin-level call recordings?+

No, admin call recordings are not included in the standard Recordings export — they're only accessible through Dialpad's Enterprise Support portal.

Can I schedule exports before I migrate off Dialpad?+

Yes. Instead of sending a one-off report, you can choose Schedule to have Dialpad email you the same CSV report daily, weekly, or monthly while you plan your migration.
