How to export your data from Beehiiv
Beehiiv lets Admins export post content and subscriber data as CSV files from Settings > Export Data, with Quick (basic) and Full (includes custom fields and stats) subscriber export options; subscriber exports can also be triggered via the beehiiv API's Subscription Export endpoint.
✓ Verified against Beehiiv's official documentation, October 2026
Step by step
- 1Log in to your beehiiv dashboard.
- 2In the left panel, scroll down and select Settings.
- 3If you have multiple publications, choose the one you want to export from the dropdown, then click Export Data.
- 4To export post content: under Export Posts, click Export All Posts. This includes published, archived, and draft posts.
- 5To export subscriber data: under Export Subscribers, click Export All Basic Subscribers (Quick) or Export All Subscribers (Full, includes custom fields and stats).
- 6Wait for processing — a success message confirms you'll get an email when the export is ready; the request also appears under Historical Exports showing Processing status.
- 7When finished, download via the link in the email, or refresh the Export Data page and click Download next to your request in Historical Exports.
- 8Optional: to automate subscriber exports, use the beehiiv API's Subscription Export endpoint (POST to /v2/publications/{publication_id}/exports/subscriptions) — this is a gated feature that requires requesting access from beehiiv support first.
What the export includes
- ✓Post content export: all posts — published, archived, and draft
- ✓Subscriber export (Quick/Basic): email, status, and tier, sorted by most recent subscriptions
- ✓Subscriber export (Full): everything in Quick plus custom fields and additional statistics
What it doesn't include
- ✗Post content and subscriber data export are separate files — there is no single combined 'export everything' bundle
- ✗The Subscription Export API only covers subscriber data, not post content
- ✗The article does not mention exporting integrations configuration, automations/workflow setups, or community/DM data via this flow
Before you start
- ⚠Download links for exported data are valid for 24 hours; if the link expires, you must request the export again
- ⚠Full subscriber export includes more data points than Quick but may take longer to process
- ⚠Exports run asynchronously — you'll get an email when ready, or you can refresh the Export Data page and watch the Historical Exports section
- ⚠The API export endpoint is gated and requires enabling for your publication by contacting beehiiv support before use
- ⚠If you send a duplicate API export request while one is already in progress, beehiiv returns the existing in-progress export instead of starting a new one
- ⚠Only Admin-role workspace users can access the Export Data page
Where to take your data
Free and cheaper tools that can take a Beehiiv export. See all Beehiiv alternatives →
Substack
Use the Full subscriber CSV export (email, status, tier, custom fields) as the source file for Substack's subscriber import tool; post content from the posts export can be used as reference when recreating posts manually, since Substack's importer expects its own CSV format.
Buttondown
Upload the beehiiv subscriber CSV (Quick or Full export) into Buttondown's subscriber import, mapping the email and status columns; Buttondown does not auto-import beehiiv's post CSV, so posts need to be recreated or migrated via Buttondown's own import tooling.
MailerLite
Import the beehiiv subscriber CSV into a MailerLite group via its CSV subscriber import, mapping email/status/custom-field columns; post content export is for backup/reference rather than direct import.
Exporting from Beehiiv: common questions
Does beehiiv let me export all my data in one click?+
No. You export post content and subscriber data separately: Export All Posts for content, and Export All Basic Subscribers or Export All Subscribers for subscriber data, all from Settings > Export Data.
What's the difference between Quick and Full subscriber export?+
Both give email, status, and tier sorted by most recent subscriptions. Full additionally includes custom fields and more statistics, but takes a bit longer to process.
How long do I have to download my export before the link expires?+
Download links are valid for 24 hours. After that you need to request the export again from the Export Data page.
Can I automate exports instead of clicking through the dashboard?+
Yes, via the beehiiv API's Subscription Export endpoint, but it's a gated feature — you need to request access from beehiiv support (via the chatbot or Help page) before you can use it. It only exports subscriber data, not posts.
Who in my workspace can export data?+
Only users with the Admin workspace role can access the Export Data page; this is true on all beehiiv plans.
Can I export just a segment of my subscribers instead of everyone?+
Through the API, yes — the Subscription Export endpoint accepts an optional segment_id parameter to limit the export to a specific segment. The dashboard UI exports described in beehiiv's help article cover 'Export All' subscribers rather than a segment-specific option.
