How to export your data from Ahrefs

Ahrefs lets you export the data behind almost any individual graph or table (keywords, backlinks, top pages, site audit issues, etc.) as CSV or directly to Google Sheets; Site Audit's overview report can also be saved as a PDF via the browser Print function. There is no single 'export my whole account' button — you export report by report, and each export counts against your plan's monthly export-row quota.

Step by step

1Open the report or tool containing the data you want (e.g. Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Site Audit).
2Click the 'Export' button in the top-right corner of the graph or table; in Keywords Explorer it's under the 3-dot menu instead of a direct button.
3For tables, a window pops up asking for the Number of rows (use 'Custom' to set a specific amount) and the Format of export.
4Pick a format: CSV, a CSV variant for Excel, or Google Sheets. For Google Sheets, click 'Link Google Account' first if the Export button is greyed out.
5Click the orange Export button — a CSV file downloads immediately to your browser's default downloads folder (or opens in Sheets).
6For Site Audit: click 'Print' on the Overview to save it as a PDF, or open an individual issue and click its own 'Export' to get the list of affected pages as CSV.
7Before large exports, check your remaining monthly allowance in Account settings > Limits and usage.
8Repeat per report — there is no bulk 'export everything' option in the UI; for programmatic/bulk pulls, Ahrefs offers a separate API (with its own, different row limits).

What the export includes

✓Raw rows/data points from the specific report or graph you export (e.g. organic keywords, backlinks, top pages, keyword lists)
✓Site Audit: the Overview report as PDF, or per-issue lists of affected URLs as CSV

What it doesn't include

✗A single full-account or full-workspace backup/export
✗A one-click export of the complete Site Audit issue list with all affected pages in one file — this has to be done issue by issue
✗JSON output from the standard UI export (JSON-style structured data is only available via the separate API, which has its own limits)
✗Anything beyond the currently viewed report/table — filters, saved projects, and settings are not bundled into the exported file

Before you start

⚠Every exported row counts against your plan's 'Export rows per month' quota, shared across CSV, CSV-for-Excel, and Google Sheets exports alike
⚠Each plan also caps the max rows allowed in a single export; exceeding it shows an error telling you the number to enter in the Custom field, and the only fix is to reduce rows or upgrade
⚠If the Export button is greyed out, check whether 'Google Sheets' is selected as the format without a linked Google account — switch to a CSV option or link your account first
⚠You can check your used/remaining export rows anytime in Account settings > Limits and usage; once maxed out for the billing cycle you can't export more unless you activate pay-as-you-go for extra rows
⚠Pay-as-you-go export rows you purchase can roll over for up to 2 additional months if unused
⚠API exports run on a separate limit system from UI CSV exports, so hitting one limit doesn't affect the other

Google Search Console

GSC doesn't accept file imports — it's a read-only reporting tool tied to your verified property. Use your exported Ahrefs organic-keywords CSV as an offline reference to cross-check query/position data against GSC's own Performance export for the same site.

SE Ranking

Take the keyword list CSV exported from Ahrefs Keywords Explorer or Site Explorer and add it as a keyword group when setting up Rank Tracker, which accepts bulk/CSV keyword lists.

Exporting from Ahrefs: common questions

Can I export all my Ahrefs data in one go?+

No. Ahrefs exports are per report or per table — there's no single button that backs up an entire project or account. You export each graph/table (keywords, backlinks, site audit issues, etc.) separately.

What formats can I export Ahrefs data to?+

CSV (including an Excel-friendly CSV variant) and Google Sheets for most reports. Site Audit's Overview report exports as a PDF via the browser Print option. JSON-style structured data is only available through Ahrefs' API, not the standard UI export.

Is there a limit on how much data I can export?+

Yes. Each plan has both a monthly 'Export rows per month' quota and a max number of rows allowed per single export; exceeding the per-export cap forces you to lower the row count or upgrade your plan.

What happens if I run out of my monthly export quota?+

You won't be able to export more reports to CSV until the quota resets, unless you activate pay-as-you-go to buy additional export rows, which can roll over for up to 2 more months if unused.

Why is my Export button greyed out?+

This usually happens when 'Google Sheets' is selected as the format but no Google account is linked yet. Link your Google account or switch to a CSV format option to re-enable the button.

Can I export the full list of Site Audit issues with affected pages in one file?+

Not in a single go. You can export the Overview as a PDF, but the detailed list of pages has to be exported issue by issue from within each individual issue's page list.
