How to export your data from Adobe CC
Adobe Creative Cloud has no single 'export all data' button — you move content out app by app: download Illustrator/Photoshop cloud documents as native PSD or AI files, download Adobe XD cloud documents from the web file browser, export Creative Cloud Libraries for re-import elsewhere, and copy locally synced files from the Creative Cloud Files folder.
✓ Verified against Adobe CC's official documentation, October 2026
Step by step
- 1Sign in to the Creative Cloud desktop app (or assets.adobe.com/cloud-documents in a browser) with the account that owns the files.
- 2For Illustrator or Photoshop cloud documents: go to Files > Files > Cloud documents, select up to 10 documents at a time, open the More Options menu, choose Download, and save them as PSD or AI files.
- 3For Adobe XD cloud documents: sign in at www.adobe.com/files/cloud-documents, hover over a document, open its context menu, and select Download.
- 4For Creative Cloud Libraries: open the Libraries panel and export the library so it can be re-imported into another Creative Cloud account later.
- 5For locally synced files: in the desktop app, use File > Open Sync Folder to open the Creative Cloud Files folder, then copy the files out to another location on your computer.
- 6For Adobe Express: there is no separate source file to export, so download the finished output (image or video) from each project.
- 7If you're moving between two different Adobe accounts, sign out of the source account and sign in with the destination Adobe ID before dragging the downloaded files back in (select Continue to convert them to cloud documents again if prompted).
What the export includes
- ✓Illustrator and Photoshop cloud documents, downloaded as native PSD or AI files
- ✓Adobe XD cloud documents, downloaded through the web file browser
- ✓Creative Cloud Libraries (colors, graphics, text styles), exportable as a library package
- ✓Files kept in the local Creative Cloud Files sync folder on your computer
- ✓Adobe Express finished output files (images/videos)
What it doesn't include
- ✗Comments, version history, shared links, invitations, and collaborations — these are not carried over in a manual transfer
- ✗A single bulk 'download everything' export — files, cloud documents, and libraries each have their own download flow
- ✗More than 10 Illustrator/Photoshop cloud documents per download batch
Before you start
- ⚠Manual transfers copy supported files only — comments, version history, shared links, invitations, and collaborations aren't transferred.
- ⚠Illustrator/Photoshop cloud document downloads are capped at 10 documents at a time via the More Options menu.
- ⚠Creative Cloud Synced Files are no longer supported for many users and organizations, so this transfer path may not be available on your account.
- ⚠On Teams/Enterprise accounts, files are owned by the organization, not the individual — export personal content to local storage, a personal Adobe account, or another cloud service before your seat or access is removed.
Where to take your data
Free and cheaper tools that can take a Adobe CC export. See all Adobe CC alternatives →
Affinity Suite
Open exported PSD files directly in Affinity Photo and AI files in Affinity Designer; both read Adobe's native layered formats without conversion.
Photopea
Drag exported PSD or AI files into the free browser-based editor at photopea.com, which opens and edits them without an Adobe subscription.
DaVinci Resolve
Import exported video assets and project interchange files (e.g. XML/AAF from Premiere Pro) into DaVinci Resolve's Media Pool for further editing.
Exporting from Adobe CC: common questions
Can I export all my Adobe Creative Cloud files in one go?+
No. Adobe's own migration instructions describe moving cloud documents, Libraries, and synced files separately, app by app — there isn't a single bulk export for the whole account.
What happens to my files if I lose my Creative Cloud for teams or enterprise seat?+
If the storage is a teams/enterprise account, the organization owns the content, so you need to move personal content out to local storage, a personal Adobe account, or another cloud service before your seat is removed.
Will comments and version history come with my files when I export them?+
No. Manual transfers copy the supported files only — comments, version history, shared links, invitations, and collaborations are not included.
How do I download Illustrator or Photoshop cloud documents?+
In the Creative Cloud desktop app go to Files > Files > Cloud documents, select up to 10 at a time, and use the More Options menu to download them as native PSD or AI files.
Can I bring my Creative Cloud Libraries to another account?+
Yes. Export the Creative Cloud Library from the Libraries panel, then re-import it into the destination Creative Cloud account.
Do I need Photoshop or Illustrator to open my exported files afterward?+
Not necessarily — exported PSD and AI files can be opened in non-Adobe apps such as Affinity Photo/Designer or the free browser-based Photopea, since both read Adobe's native layered file formats.
