How to export your data from Adobe Audition
Audition is a local desktop DAW, so there is no cloud account-data export — you export your work as standard audio files (WAV, AIFF, MP3, etc.) via File > Save As / File > Export, or mix down a multitrack session with Export with Adobe Media Encoder, keeping the native .sesx session as your project backup.
✓ Verified against Adobe Audition's official documentation, October 2026
Step by step
- 1Open the audio file (Waveform Editor) or multitrack project (Multitrack Editor) you want to export.
- 2For a single file: choose File > Save As to save under a new name/format, or File > Export > File to export while keeping the current file open.
- 3Specify a filename and location, then choose the target file format.
- 4Set Sample Type (sample rate/bit depth) and Format Settings (compression/storage mode) if you need to change them from the defaults.
- 5Enable 'Include Markers and Other Metadata' if you want audio markers and Metadata panel info carried into the exported file.
- 6For a multitrack session: choose File > Export > Export with Adobe Media Encoder to render a mixdown; by default only the mix track is exported, so click Change to route individual tracks to separate output channels if you need stems.
- 7To convert many files at once, use File > Save All Audio as Batch Process.
- 8Keep the original .sesx session file (plus the session's audio folder) alongside your exports — it's your only full backup of track layout, clip edits, and effects.
What the export includes
- ✓Rendered audio at the sample rate, bit depth, and format you choose in the Save As/Export dialog
- ✓Audio markers and Metadata panel data, if 'Include Markers and Other Metadata' is checked
- ✓A multitrack mixdown (or routed stems) when exporting via Adobe Media Encoder
What it doesn't include
- ✗Live, editable effects/plugin chains — these are baked (rendered) into the exported audio, not kept as adjustable parameters
- ✗Individual track stems by default — Media Encoder export only renders the mix track unless you configure routing via Change
- ✗CD burning — CD authoring features were removed in Audition 26.3+, so you export tracks as WAV and burn with your OS's own disc tools instead
Before you start
- ⚠Each export is a manual dialog (filename, format, sample type, format settings) unless you use 'Save All Audio as Batch Process' for bulk conversion
- ⚠Multitrack-to-single-file export only carries over the mix bus by default — you must explicitly reroute tracks to get separate stems
- ⚠Audition 26.3+ dropped built-in CD authoring; export WAV files and use your OS's disc-burning tools if you still need audio CDs
Where to take your data
Free and cheaper tools that can take a Adobe Audition export. See all Adobe Audition alternatives →
Audacity
Import the exported WAV/AIFF/MP3 files directly (File > Import > Audio) — Audacity reads these common formats natively.
Reaper
Drag exported WAV stems into a new Reaper project, or import an OMF/XML interchange export if you routed per-track stems to rebuild the multitrack layout.
Ardour
Import exported WAV/AIFF stems as new tracks, or use Ardour's OMF import if you exported an OMF interchange file from Audition's Multitrack Editor.
Exporting from Adobe Audition: common questions
Does Adobe Audition have a one-click 'export all my data' button?+
No. Audition is a local desktop app, so there's no cloud account export — your 'data' is simply the .sesx session file and the audio files on your disk, which you export per-file or per-project using Save As / Export.
Will I lose my effects when I export?+
Yes — effects, EQ, and other processing are rendered permanently into the exported audio; the exported file is no longer editable the way the original session was.
How do I export individual tracks instead of a single mix?+
When using File > Export > Export with Adobe Media Encoder, click Change in the routing step to assign each track to its own output channel instead of the default single mix track.
Can I just hand my project folder to another editor?+
Only if the other app can read Audition's native .sesx session; most other DAWs can't, so export WAV/AIFF stems (or an OMF/XML interchange file) instead.
Do I need a specific Audition plan to export files?+
No — saving and exporting audio is a standard editing feature available in any licensed copy of Audition, not a tier-gated feature.
